In 2013, Emily Oliver suffered her fourth concussion - an injury that would put an end to a promising soccer career. Oliver's third concussion, sustained in April 2012, was her most severe and she was forced to withdraw from her classes at Stanford due to difficulty reading and looking at screens. After months of being sidelined from soccer and school and suffering from mood swings, light sensitivity, and headaches, Oliver finally progressed back in the fall of 2013, only to suffer a fourth concussion a few games into her senior season putting an unexpected and abrupt end to her career.
